OUT-LICENSED MARKETED PRODUCTS
ZymoGenetics has contributed to the discovery
or development of six recombinant protein
products currently being marketed by third
parties. Our discoveries have ranged from
the initial identification of the gene coding
for the protein to the development of manufacturing
processes used to produce the therapeutic
proteins. These products have annual aggregate
sales of more than $3 billion:
- Novolin® (Insulin) and Insulin Analogs: A recombinant human insulin products
marketed by Novo Nordisk A/S worldwide,
for the treatment of diabetes.
- NovoSeven® (Factor VIIa): A protein involved in the generation
of blood clots, marketed worldwide by
Novo Nordisk A/S, for the treatment
of hemophilia.
- Regranex® (Platelet-derived
Growth Factor): A potent growth
factor marketed by Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceuticals,
Inc. a Johnson & Johnson company, for
the treatment of non-healing diabetic
ulcers.
- GEM 21S® (PDGF-BB): Outlicensed
to BioMimetic Therapeutics and approved
by the FDA for treatment of periodontal
disease.
- GlucaGen® (Glucagon): A protein marketed by Novo Nordisk
A/S & Bedford Laboratories, and Eisai
for use as an aid for gastrointestinal
motility inhibition, and for the treatment
of severe hypoglycemia in diabetic patients
treated with insulin.
- Cleactor® (tPA analog): A modified form of the protein tissue
plasminogen activator, marketed in Japan
by Eisai for the treatment of myocardial
infarction, or heart attacks.
