PIPELINE OVERVIEW

ZymoGenetics' dedicated focus on the discovery and development of protein therapeutics has led to the designation of four lead product candidates for clinical development:
  • RECOTHROM™ Thrombin, topical (Recombinant)
  • Atacicept, for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and for advanced B-cell malignancies;
  • Interleukin 21 (IL-21), for the treatment of cancer;
  • PEG-interferon lambda (IL-29), for treatment of hepatitis C.

RECOTHROM™ Thrombin, topical (Recombinant) was approved by U.S. Food and Drug Administration on January 17, 2008 and is indicated as an aid to hemostasis whenever oozing blood and minor bleeding from capillaries and small venules is accessible and control of bleeding by standard surgical techniques is ineffective or impractical. RECOTHROM may be used in conjunction with an absorbable gelatin sponge, USP.

Atacicept, IL-21 and PEG-interferon lambda are product candidates derived from our bioinformatics-driven gene discovery program and were identified as a result of our core expertise in ligand-receptor pairing. We are conducting clinical studies with rThrombin, atacicept, IL-21 and PEG-interferon lambda.

These product candidates are just the beginning of a deep pipeline of novel product candidates that we have discovered through our genomics-based research efforts. Combining our strengths in bioinformatics, cell and molecular biology, protein chemistry and animal pharmacology, we have established a portfolio of novel product candidates that span a range of therapeutic indications including cancer, autoimmune diseases, surgical bleeding and inflammation. We believe that this pipeline will be a rich source of development candidates for years to come.
